Doctor Jiménez Caraballo

Perfil

Dr. Jiménez Caraballo was born in Seville in 1959. He attended the Jesuit school of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Portaceli) before entering medical school, where he was a resident student by competitive examination in the Department of Medical Pathology I (Prof. Aznar) during the 1978-1979 academic year and in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Prof. Bedoya) during the 1979-1980, 1980-1981, and 1981-1982 academic years.

He completed his undergraduate thesis, doctoral coursework, and doctoral dissertation, graduating with the highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude. This marked the beginning of a brilliant research career that has led him to publish more than thirty articles in scientific journals and to present numerous lectures at national and international conferences, almost always focused on the field of gynecology and minimally invasive techniques.

He was one of the world’s pioneers in the use of methotrexate for the treatment of ectopic pregnancy, which has spared thousands of women worldwide from unnecessary intervention. He is also the author of several book chapters and protocols, and has directed numerous doctoral theses and undergraduate medical projects, where he has served for decades as a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Professionally, since completing his residency, he has worked at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital, where he has held increasingly important positions. He has implemented and developed units such as fetal ultrasound, cervical pathology, STIs, and outpatient hysteroscopy, among others, eventually becoming Head of the Gynecology Unit, a position he currently holds, and Head of the Clinical Management Unit for three years.

He obtained a permanent position as a Specialist Physician in the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), achieving the top score in both the competitive examination and the competitive selection process.

This being a brief summary of what Dr. Jiménez Caraballo has achieved so far, perhaps his greatest pride is seeing his two sons following in his footsteps today with great success.
